In our goody bag we also got a booklet all about Lush and all their products which was a really nice addition!

The first item from my goody bag is Angels on Bare Skin. Now, it does look rather odd in the pot, but I've seen other bloggers talking about it and apparently it's amazing. It's basically a facial cleanser. You take a bit out the post, add water to make it into a paste and massage it onto your face and then wash it off. I'm quite intrigued by this product...looks very peculiar...

The next item in my goody bag is Ocean Salt; a face and body scrub. I really just want to stick my fingers in this! It looks like a creamier mixture underneath the 'salt' on top but I could be wrong. I've seen other reviews of it say it's quite harsh, but I prefer that in a scrub. I'll probably use this more for my body rather than face but I'm looking forward to it!

This next item is Sunnyside; a bubble bar. If you don't know what a bubble bar is, you basically crumble it under a running tap to create mountains of bubbles for your bath. Personally I don't really have baths, I prefer showers, so I might give this to my mum but I might go crazy one night and have a bath instead.

Clean up your complexion 

You will need:

1 ripe banana

1 table spoon of honey

10 drops of lemon juice

1 - tear or cut up the banana in a small bowl and mash it with a fork.

2 - add the honey and lemon juice and mix it well. 

3- apply the mask to the entire face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse off with a warm washcloth

The benefits of this mask are the banana nourishes the skin while the honey absorbs and keeps moisture and the lemon juice works as an exfoliator, reducing the appearance of scars and wrinkles.

Brown sugar body scrub

You will need:

1/2 a cup of course brown sugar

1 tablespoon of honey

A splash of olive oil

1/2 table spoon of lemon juice

1 - Mix everything together in a bowl until its all combined

2 - Apply the scrub to your body and rinse off

This is great to remove dead winter skin which leaves you feeling fresh and flake free! It's also brilliant to do before applying fake tan. Your skin will thank you for this one!

oatmeal and lavender bath soak

You will need:

4 cups of oats

3 table spoons of dried lavender

1 cup of baking soda

1 - Add all the ingredients together and blend in a food processor until its very fine and almost powder.

2 - Pop as much as you like into the bath water and mix around. Relax and enjoy your bath!

Why, hello there...

Shaving our legs is often seen as a chore, especially when you need so many things to keep them in check: Razor, razor heads, shaving gel, moisturiser. So saving money but still getting smooth legs is always a plus. Some shaving gels/foams can be quite pricey, and even the standard ones such as Satin Care by wilkinson sword cost about £3.49. But recently I've seen that quite a few people have said about using conditioner instead. It's actually really good! Alberto Balsam's conditioner is really creamy and they have a range of amazing smells, and they're only 99p! They also give you the same amount (200 ml) so it's a massive saving. Although it doesn't foam or lather up like a gel does, it still leaves your legs feeling smooth. There isn't much in terms of packaging apart from the fact that Satin Care is in a metal bottle so it's more sturdy, but I like the fact that I can see how much is left in the Alberto Balsam one so I know when it's nearly all gone.

An alternative to Scrubs?

I've been wanting to start these types of posts for a while now, it was just a matter of getting all my ideas together to get it started. This blog is about finding the cheaper side of beauty/fashion, so these Save Vs Splurge posts are going to show you alternatives for the higher end or more expensive products on the market at the moment. Lets get started with the first post!

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula has been a cult winter product for quite some time now, with bloggers and their mothers all using it. It is great for dry skin, even eczema, over the winter months and has a great smell, but the Skin Systems Cocoa body lotion is exactly the same for a fraction of the price. This Palmer's bottle is only 250ml and costs £3.99 at Boots. The Skin System one is 400ml and is a steal at only £1.04 for ASDA. It still has a nice smell and does the job. I don't really care about the packaging, as long as it's easy to use and does its job. But if you are concerned about what it looks like, I would say Palmer's has the edge on this. The one difference I would say is that the Palmer's one is slightly thicker which you may prefer, but if you're trying to save a few pennies then the Skin Systems one is definitely worth a try. I personally get dry skin on my face and this has been good at keeping it under control and is also great for my legs. You can't go wrong at only £1.04.

Why, hello there...

I couldn't live without this stuff now. I have eczema on my arms and it gets really bad around this time of the year, with it being cold and the central heating being on. I've been using this stuff for about a month now, and my arms are SO clear. The soreness has gone, they're still a little bit dry but they've never been this clear in the winter! I love the smell as well. I didn't really think 'Pistachio' would have a smell as such, but it's really nice! It kind of smells like coconut, but a little bit different. Not really sure how to explain.. 

I had seen a few bloggers saying that you could find it in saver for only £2, and I can definitely say it was the best £2 I've spent this year! I would highly recommend this over the winter period!

Why, hello there...

I love this product! I saw another blogger saying they really liked it, so I found a travel size one to try it out. I will definitely be purchasing the full size! I always thought most face scrubs are ok, but didn't have enough 'scrubbing' power. This one has plenty. It has loads of little beads in it so it's great to waken your face up in the morning. It also smells really great, so refreshing and a hint of the apricot, but not too overpowering. Also as a plus, the packaging is really nice, and in ASDA the full size one is only £3!

Have you used St Ives? What face scrub do you use?

Why, hello there...

I have a pretty basic face/body routine for the mornings/evenings. I suffer from eczema (dry skin which makes my skin really itchy so I scratch a lot, particularly on my arms) but this also means I have quite sensitive skin. Using many skin products on my face isn't always the best option as it just clogs up my pores and can cause my skin to get worse. So this is what I use:

I use the body butters on my arms or legs in the summer. Usually my skin is a lot better during the summer as the sun is actually very good for your skin in terms of clearing up dry skin/blemishes.

The foaming face wash is so gentle and gets right into your pores. Unlike creamy or soapy face washes this one is so light and is great for spots as it has tea-tree in it. Aveeno is fantastic. It sinks into your skin straight away so it doesn't leave much of a greasy surface on your skin. I use this on my arms, face, anywhere that needs it!

I originally used the Aveeno eye cream but I ran out and it was on the rather expensive side for the amount you got, so I got this cheap one from boots instead. It seems to be doing the job. I have dark circles under my eyes so this is great for cooling any puffiness and reducing some of the dark circles. I use the tea-tree moisturiser around where my spots are to try and reduce  redness and stop them drying.
